PQI has debuted a 2.5 inch SSD drive which has a capacity of 256GB. This is the first SSD drive of this capacity that is suitable for notebooks. It has a transfer rate of up to 60MB/sec. This solid state disk drive is basically like a flash drive. Because it has no spinning platters like a convential harddrive it consume far less energy. As well SSD drives last twice as long convential harddrives with 10 year life spans versus 5 years for a conventional hard drive.
