This is the first water resistant remote I have heard of. I’m not sure if this is the only one but the idea sounds like a good one. Sony’s RM-PZ1FD infrared remote control is designed to sit on top of a table where its water resistant case could come in handy for the occasional accidental spill.
The RM-PZ1FD remote transmits a wide angle signal so it is not necessary to point the remote directly at the receiver. The remote comes in three colors, silver, white and red. It’s dimensions are 96×127×17 mm and it weighs 148 g. The RM-PZ1FD will be priced at 1980 Yen (approximately $17) and will be available in Japan in late August.
