XMI has developed a speaker with an accordion-like vacuum tube called the X-mini. This collapsible vacuum tube allows the speaker to be folded compactly into a sphere.
The speaker also features a bass control, a rechargeable battery, a USB connection and a stereo plug. The X-mini costs approximately $32 US.
I would love to hear how these speakers perform.The X-minis were obviously designed to be extremely portable, and seem to be perfectly suited for carrying around with your laptop or PMP.

For a smaill unit these things actually go really well. The design is pretty sleek and the sound (for a golf ball) is surprisingly big. Distorts at full volume (what speakers don’t?) but is more than enough for a portable sound.

My sister bought me one as a gift in (maybe Singapore) or somewhere like that for about $35.00. It is awesome. I run it with my MP3 Player and Sony CD Player. I am still on the first charge of the battery (about 7 hours now). The speaker puts out sound loud enough to be heard from the dashboard of my Honda on the freeway when at full blast (with boost) with all four windows rolled down and the moon roof open. I am really impressed with the sound. It puts out better quality sound than my cheep amplified stereo computer speakers. I played a classical piece for a music students and he was impressed with the quality. He said “Not studio monitors but good”
The only thing that doesn’t seem to be of quality about this speaker is the cable. I’m thinking the cable is not going to last to long. If I can find parts I plan to buy another cable before this one goes bad. But the accordion hinge and the rest of the speaker seems very reliable and well made

i’ve been looking for the retractable usb and audio for xmini and I can’t find it anywhere. My wire got bent a couple of tiems and theres a cut by the audio plug. I hope I can buy it somewhere

I took my Japanese friend Mr. Morita to buy a set of these speakers and he was so pleased with them. The only problem was that a friend of his liked them so much that he gave them away to his friend.
No problem, really - we bought another set yesterday!
I’m getting one for myself too and I hope my daughter doesn’t take them…
By the way, I’m a sound/recording engineer by profession, and I know what sounds good.

I still wonder how I can get a new rechargeable batteri inserted as mine dont charge and havent done since purchase. quite a shame as its a fine product
