Toshiba will soon be bringing to the market an assortment of new 2.5 inch drives. They will consist of the MK-52GSX line, the MK-46GSX line and the MK-GSY line of high performance hard drives.

The MK-52GSX line includes a hard drive with a 320 GB capacity making it the largest notebook hard drive so far. It is made up of two platters, each holding 160GB. These platters have the highest density of any mass-produced hard drive, an impressive 254 Gbits/in2.

The other hard drives in the MK-52GSX line up have capacities of 80 GB, 120 GB, and 160 GB. All of these hard drives have a rotational speed of 5400 rpm and a transfer rate of 801 Mb/s and a average seek time of 12 ms.

The MK-46GSX line will come in the following capacities: 80 GB, 120 GB, 160 GB, and 250 GB and have a storage density of 200 Gbits/in2. These drives will have a transfer rate of 759 Mb/s and a average seek time of 12 ms.

The MK-GSY hard drives, with a speed of 7200 rpm, will come in capacites of 80 GB, 120 GB, 160 GB and 200 GB. Each of these hard drives will have a transfer rate of 895.9 Mb/s and a average seek time of 12 ms.

No price information was given, however all of these hard drive will come to the market in the fourth quarter of 2007.
