It seems that Samsung was very busy at the at the FPD International 2007 in Yokohama, Japan. Along with their new notebook displays Samsung had a few more tricks up its sleeve.
Among these was a new 40-inch LCD that is only 10mm thick. This model has a profile of LCDs which are normally 16 to 20 inches and has a bezel which is only 14.6 mm. The LCD has a LED backlight and is able to display 92% of the NTSC color standard. It also features low power consumption requiring only 90 watts of power.
Samsung also displayed a new 46-inch LCD with a brightness level of 1,500nits. This is three times that of conventional LCDs. In addition this LCD has a bezel of 10mm or less. These combined characteristics make it especially suited for use as a public display or in a video wall. And for PCs Samsung displayed a 22-inch LCD desktop monitor with the new Displayport interface.
I really respect Samsung for their efforts at furthering LCD technology. They are constantly pushing the boundaries of this technology with new advancements.
