The mechanical engineering students at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette have created a really interesting personal transportation machine called the Cajun Crawler.
This Segway-like device has a platform and handle bars attached to it which allows the rider to stand on it. But then it departs from the design of Segway, because the wheels have been replaced with mechanical crab legs that move the machine forward, left right and so on.
The Cajun Crawler was the result of a fall semester project which was designed by Don Tamosaitis. It cost $1,200 to build and can support over 350 lbs.
