I haven’t seen the first transformers film but from what I’ve read and and been told by others it isn’t great. And there is the possibility that this will be of the same quality. Too bad. The special effects in this second Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen look absolutely amazing. These robots are photo-realistic and their designs have complex moving parts. Just look at Bumblebee, there is a multitude of parts on him that all move independently. Very nice. Hats off to ILM. This almost makes me want to go to the theater to see it. I love well done special effects. But before I go to the theater to see a film I need to have the feeling that the film’s directing, acting, and story will be up to my standards. I don’t partake of any cinematic slop that is presented to me.
And its too bad the directors and writers in today’s big budget films work only a fraction as hard as the companies they hire to do their computer generated effects. Wow, what an effect that would have on the quality of movies. No longer would the term “popcorn movie” be synonymous with “barely watchable”.
The only Michael Bay Film I really like is Bad Boys 2. I think it is one of the best humorous buddy/cop films ever. The action thrilled and the humor was potent. Bad Boys 2 was very effective in doing what that type of movie needs to do.
I didn’t like the first Bad Boys movie though. I found that it was not funny at all and the action was not all that exciting.
Now will Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen of the fallen be any good? Will it be everything that the first should have been - like Bad Boys 2? I have no idea. Its too early for me to say about this one. As it stands now I’ll rent it when it comes out on Blu-Ray.
