Fox released the teaser trailer for James Cameron’s upcoming film, Avatar, which will be released in theaters December 18, 2009.

I’m very disappointed in what I see. The cgi for the alien Na’vi looks so far from photo-realistic its as if they were making computer animated cartoon.

How is the audience supposed to suspend their disbelief when they see the aliens? It looks like the film is switching between live action and animation.

I was expecting something to compete with Davy Jones, King Kong, or Gollum in terms of cgi quality. Instead it looks like a Pixar film.

I am a big fan of Mr Cameron’s work as a director. The Terminator, Terminator 2, Aliens, Abyss, and True Lies are some of my favorite films of all time, but currently I have no interest in going to the theater to see Avatar.

What are your thoughts?
