The device you see above is Honda’s U3-X motorized personal mobility concept. The rider sits on the U3-X like a unicyle and is able to move forward, reverse, sideways, and diagonally.
The direction, speed of movement, and the ability to stop is controlled by the user leaning their upper body and shifting their body weight. Designed with portability in mind the U3-X is compact (315 × 160 × 650 mm) and weighs only 10kg. It can run up to 1 hour on a full charge.
Honda plans to display the U3-X at the Tokyo Motor Show on October 24, 2009.
