AMD has announced that it is the first company to produce a graphics processor which is compatible with the DisplayPort 1.1 standard. These new graphics processors are from the ATI Radeon line.
The DisplayPort technology is a high-bandwidth connection that may eventually replace other standards such as DVI, LVDS, and VGA.
This new type of digital audio/video interface is designed to be used for applications where data is transmitted between a PC(or notebook) and a display or between a PC and a home-theater system.
The ATI Radeon graphics processors with the DisplayPort interface will likely be shipping to the market in early 2008.
