There has not been an official statement from Fox studios concerning the release date,  but  according to James Cameron, himself, the blockbuster Avatar is coming to Blu-ray and DVD on april 22, 2010.

Again this has not been confirmed by Fox so the release date could easily change, especially since Avatar is still doing very well at the box office. More info on this as it becomes available.

Pioneer has created a new multi-layered Blu-ray disc with a capacity of 400GB.

This read-only disc has 16 layers and holds 25GB per layer like the current single layer 25GB disc and the dual-layer 50GB Blu-ray disc.

The new multi-layer technology can also be used on rewritable discs.

The only thing that remains to be known is if these new discs can be read by current Blu-ray players. And if not will a firmware update allow current player to this. …Continue reading … »

First of all happy new year everybody. Hopefully your holidays were good.

Now in a move that surprised many, Warner Bros. Studios has decided to exclusively release its movies only on high definition Blu-Ray discs (as well as standard dvds) after the end of May 2008. Before this announcement Warner Bros. position on the hi-def formats had been one of neutrality opting to release its films in both the Blu-Ray and HD-DVD discs. …Continue reading … »
