
Last week while watching Avatar in the theater a friend of mine commented on how cool the transparent touchscreens and tablets used in the movie were. I then remembered reading about transparent display concepts in 2009 and thinking we may have such devices soon.
Now as further confirmation that devices like those used in the movie are indeed on there way we need to only look at devices like the laptop with the transparent screen and the Samsung Ice Touch. …Continue reading … »

At the 2008 FPD International tech conference in Japan, Samsung displayed what may very well be the first cellphone with a folding OLED screen. Sony once again raises the bar in the flat panel display thickness (or should that be thinness?) war with its new 0.3mm thick OLED display.

Sony’s XEL-1 OLED tv is only 3mm thick. Yes 3mm. It’s screen is 11 inches diagonally and has a resolution of 960 x 540. It’s got a contrast ratio of 1,000,000 to 1.
