Takara/Tomy has created the world’s smallest commercially produced humanoid robot, and with a Guinness World Records certification nonetheless . It stands 16.5 cm tall and weighs 350 grams. His body contains 17 servos, 1 speaker and 18 cpus. One of which is dedicated to voice recognition. The i-sobot is can perform pre-programmed actions or be controlled by a with a rectangular remote control. The videos below shows the many capabilities of a pre-production version of the i-sobot. Watch and you’ll see him walk and balance on leg, wave his arms, and do push-ups, along with many other things. As seen in the video he is quite an amusing little guy. It is priced at about $350 USD. It will be available in the US in October of 2007. Later in 2007 an optional head mounted camera and LAN capability can be added for an additional $70 dollars.

Wow. Yet another example of Japan having all the cool stuff. I present to the jury yet another article of evidence. Remember Takara Tomy, the company that makes the transforming, SD card accepting, mp3 playing robot, Soundwave. Well, they are back with another one, this time Optimus Prime. And he’s a fully transformable model kits to. And it gets even better, this time his trailer functions as an ipod dock complete with built in speakers. He will be available in Japan in late September for 15,750 JPY which converts to about $129.87 USD.

Tmsuk, a robotics company from Japan has developed the new Enryu T-53 robot. The T-53 functions like a exoskeleton. It has two large arms with a claw at the end of each and is controlled by a specially trained operator. When the operator moves his arm the T-53 mimic the movement with its arm. This makes the robot perfectly suited for picking up large and heavy objects. And as a safety precaution the robot reacts slower than its operator.

It is also equipped with several camera to assist it in navigation.With these abilities the T-53 will undoubtedly be used after natural disasters like floods and earthquakes. It weighs 3 tons and runs on a 3 cylinder diesel engine which will allow it to operate for up to 6 hours. The robot will sell for around ¥40 million or $320,000 when it goes on sale.

Japan has all the cool stuff. I present to the jury the following article of evidence. Takara Tomy, a company that makes models kits in Japan, has created a kit of the robot Soundwave. This kit is fully transformable and plays mp3s. It accepts SD cards, and has a earphone jack. Its price starts at $87.95.
